Je Suis Animal are a Norwegian band who combine the cool of French pop with the passionate frenzy of C86. ‘The Mystery of Marie Roget’ (Angular Recordings) owes a title to Edgar Allan Poe and its sinister investigative air to Jessica Fletcher. This is wonderfully melodic and dreamy, but too tough for tweepop. On the other hand, Secret Place is a pure rush of C86-style energy, quite the sound of the moment.
